Cupping

Cupping is a traditional, time-honored treatment favored by millions of people worldwide because it’s safe and remarkably effective for many health disorders. It’s use of suction, rather than compression helps rapidly facilitate rigid soft tissue release and loosens and lifts connective tissues. Cupping pulls stagnation out of the tissues and brings it to the skin level. The pores expand, discharging some of the waste and toxins. The rest is then more accessible to the body’s circulatory and lymphatic systems where it can be properly flushed out. In addition, cupping brings fresh, revitalized blood to stagnant areas.

What Are the Marks?

The marks that remain after a treatment are not bruises. The suction formed by the cups draws up the old non-circulating stagnant blood and sticky fluids in the area. The metabolic waste is brought up to the surface so that it can be moved away from the injury site to allow for healthy and free circulation to be restored to the affected areas. These marks indicate that the stagnation or disease has been moved from the deeper tissue layers to the surface. Depending on the amount of stagnation that is brought up, marks can last from 1-3 weeks.

Fire Cupping

Fire cupping is the most traditional form of cupping used in Chinese Medicine. Glass cups are used in this treatment. With these cups, a suction is created by placing an inverted glass cup over a flaming alcohol-soaked cotton ball, which removes oxygen from the cup and creates a vacuum. The cup isn’t hot when applied, and the flame never touches the skin. The fire is only used to create suction. Fire Cups can be used for treatments much like the orthopedic cups, however, these cups are extremely beneficial when treating a cold as they trigger the body’s immune response. They are also more soothing and are helpful in activating the parasympathetic system, reducing stress and anxiety.

Biomagnetic Cupping

Electrical activity in the body is essential. Our body needs energy that is provided by free electrons. Our body is very much like a battery in the sense that we can be charged and discharged and even drained of energy. Most “Dis-ease,” from the common cold to cancer, can manifest itself in a rundown body. Biomagnetic Therapy assists the body to regain its own self-healing electromagnetic balance naturally. The body’s organs and cells are influenced by electromagnetism. These electromagnetic currents control tissue function, cell regulation, and life. When we have a lack of magnetism in our body,we can start to see physical, mental, and emotional dysfunction.

Orthopedic Cupping

Orthopedic cupping typically uses silicon cups to create suction on the skin. This negative pressure pulls up the skin and underlying fascia which increases circulation to muscles and joints. An increase in circulation draws fresh oxygenated blood to the area. It then stimulates the lymphatic system to flush out all waste. The silicone cups are an excellent way to break up muscle adhesions, increase range of motion in joints, and reduce scar tissue. A stationary placement of the cups can even be used in facilitated stretches.

Facial Cupping

Face cupping is a wonderful tool used in facial rejuvenation. These small, glass cups suction and lift the facial tissue. It increases local circulation of the skin and increases nutrients brought to the epidermis. The drainage of stagnant fluids can reduce chronic puffiness in the face. The muscles of the face benefit greatly because you can reduce tension and tightness which can help to release expression lines. It’s also wonderful in treating TMJ disorders as well as sinus infections. Face cups can also be used in treating acupressure points on the face.
